O jogador segue aprimorando a parte física no CT Rei Pelé.

Nottingham Forest set to be offered "fantastic" UCL winner in Murillo deal

As they look to comply with the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules, Nottingham Forest have reportedly been offered a Champions League-winning defender in a swap deal for current star Murillo.

Nottingham Forest transfer news

The Midlands club are among the sides who must sell players this summer to comply with FFP, with players such as Orel Mangala and Moussa Niakhate reportedly heading for the exit door at the City Ground. And whilst those sales will undoubtedly go a long way towards avoiding any punishment from the Premier League this summer, Forest could still be left bidding farewell to Murillo in the coming months.

The central defender enjoyed an excellent campaign last time out and was one of the biggest standouts in the Midlands. Still just 21 years old, the interest of some of Europe's biggest clubs is far from surprising, but one offer could yet benefit Forest this summer.

Nottingham Forest now eyeing "Rolls Royce" who just outscored Gibbs-White

He’s still just 19 years old…

ByTom Cunningham Jun 27, 2024

According to The Guardian, Chelsea are set to offer Trevoh Chalobah plus cash to sign Murillo, who Nottingham Forest value at a hefty £70m this summer. The Chelsea academy graduate won the Champions League with the Blues in 2021 when they defeated Manchester City, but now finds his place in doubt at Stamford Bridge.

Trevoh Chalobah

The recent arrival of Tosin Adarabioyo has only sparked more questions over Chalobah's Chelsea future, potentially allowing Forest to land an instant replacement for Murillo. A central defender with plenty of experience at 24 years old, Chalobah would be an ideal arrival for Nuno Espirito Santo this summer.

"Fantastic" Chalobah can replace Murillo

At his best, Chalobah is a Champions League level defender, and if Forest lose Murillo this summer, he makes perfect sense when it comes to finding a replacement. Given Chelsea's admiration for Murillo too, Forest could land a simple swap deal to bring them out the other side of their PSR threat with a ready made replacement and cash in their pockets.

The numbers certainly show that Chalobah would be capable of stepping into the potential void left behind by Murillo, whilst also highlighting just how much he struggled for minutes at Chelsea last season.

It's quite the turn of events, given the praise of former manager Thomas Tuchel at the start of Chalobah's Chelsea career, saying via Football365: “Fantastic. He gets all the praise and it’s well deserved. Two excellent matches. He played against Arsenal and Tottenham in friendlies, then 120 minutes on Wednesday, then 90 today and scores. It’s fantastic these things happen in sports. A perfect day for him."

From that initial game time, the academy graduate has fallen down the pecking order and is arguably in desperate need of a summer exit.

Bids submitted: 49ers make £4m move to sign "outstanding" player for Leeds

The 49ers Enterprises have reportedly made a move to sign an "outstanding" player for Leeds United in a potential £4m deal, with the club receiving a reply.

Leeds transfer news

It looks set to be a busy summer at Elland Road, with both incomings and outgoings meaning Daniel Farke's squad could look very different by the time the opening game of the Championship season rolls around.

Glen Kamara is set to join Ligue 1 Rennes side after only one season in a Leeds shirt, with the club seemingly happy for the Finland international to move on to pastures new. It looks as though Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp has been lined up as his direct replacement, in what could be an eye-catching summer addition.

The Whites are also reportedly interested in signing Sheffield United defender Jayden Bogle, as Farke looks to bolster his quality and depth at the back. The 23-year-old started 32 matches in the Premier League last season but was powerless to do anything about his side making a quickfire return to the Championship.

RB Salzburg forward Petar Ratkov has also been linked with joining Leeds, being looked at as an alternative option to Daniel Jebbison, who plies his trade at Bournemouth. Now, a new update regarding one of the aforementioned targets has emerged.

Leeds make bids for "outstanding" right-back

According to a new update from Football Insider, 49ers and Leeds have submitted two offers for United defender Jayden Bogle, with both reportedly around the £4m mark with different payment structures.

The Whites have been unsuccessful in their attempts to date, however, with the Blades rejecting both bids, but the player himself "has told friends he is keen on joining Leeds", also informing his current club that he "will not be signing an extension beyond the summer of 2025."

Jaden Bogle for Sheffield United.

At this point, it could be a surprise to some if Bogle didn't end up at Leeds this summer, considering he wants the move to happen, and the fact that he only has one more year remaining on his current deal. Granted, the Blades are being stubborn for the time being, but they may not want to lose him on a free transfer this time next season.

The Englishman could be an excellent signing for the Whites, possessing Premier League experience and also winning three caps for England's Under-20s in the past, and Blades manager Chris Wilder has spoken of his admiration for him recently, saying:

"Yes, hopefully [Bogle will stay]. He's been outstanding. We knew a lot about him when we brought him into the building, him and Max. “It was arguably one of the club's best deals, in terms of the numbers."

At 23, Bogle remains a young player with long-term potential, as well as being capable of thriving at right-back or on the wing, with such versatility likely to appeal to Farke. It is now a case of possibly upping the offer and hoping Sheffield United accept it, reaching a point where all parties are on the same page.

Kane Williamson, Tom Latham put New Zealand in control

The duo put on a masterclass of negotiating potentially tough conditions

Kane Williamson made smooth progress and Tom Latham was assured, as New Zealand ended a dominant first day on 243 for 2, having been put in to bat by Jason Holder on a pitch whose colour was indistinguishable from the outfield. The bowlers, particularly seamers, were expected to dominate. But the fans who came to the Seddon Park in Hamilton got to see a masterclass from their national captain. It’s a good thing New Zealand have managed their Covid-19 situation well enough to have mask-free attendances at the stadiums – properly appreciating a Williamson masterclass needs a free range of facial expressions. On losing the toss, Williamson said he would have bowled first. He then proceeded to show how Jason Holder’s decision to bowl could be made irrelevant.Watch the cricket on ESPN+

Williamson was within touching distance of a 22nd Test match century, having batted from the time he came in the middle as if he had been on a steady red-ball diet for months, instead of taking part in the most intense T20 competition in the world. He was batting on a serene 97 at stumps, having come in as early as the fifth over. That was the only period of play when West Indies were at parity with New Zealand. Debutant Will Young had been trapped in front by Shannon Gabriel a ball after being reprieved with a dropped catch behind the stumps courtesy Shane Dowrich, and New Zealand were 14 for 1 in four overs.Thereafter, Latham and Williamson put on 154 runs for the second wicket to grind West Indies down. When Latham fell, bowled by a peach from Kemar Roach, Ross Taylor joined Williamson and the runs kept coming. The unbroken third-wicket stand was already worth 75, and West Indies were reduced to bowling Kraigg Brathwaite in the last over of the day to just finish the day’s play quickly.Early rains meant the first session was washed out, with the remaining two sessions elongated, but although 85 overs had been budgeted for, a pace-heavy West Indies bowled only 77 despite another extra half hour being tacked on at the end of the day.Latham and Williamson ensured most of those overs went New Zealand’s way, although a somewhat tardy West Indies bowling attack made their jobs easier. They had to negotiate potentially tough conditions, against an attack that should have fancied itself to make the most of getting first use a lush green pitch. But, a combination of poor lines by the West Indies bowlers and exemplary control by Williamson and Latham, meant West Indies’ advantage on winning the toss was negated entirely.Latham was compact, content to leave deliveries all day long if needed but pouncing on any errors in length. Williamson was a bit more adventurous in terms of getting bat on ball, but every bit as controlled in his shot-making. Williamson leaned into his drives with trademark elegance, and on the rare occasions when a delivery spit at him or did something unexpected, his hands and wristwork were nimble enough to negotiate the ball.Latham had a stroke of luck when he flashed at a short and wide one to the keeper, off Holder in the penultimate over of the first session. There was an audible noise as the ball went past bat, but only Darren Bravo at first slip half-appealed and the rest of the West Indies fielders, including the bowler and captain, were silent. Replays showed a spike on Ultraedge as the ball passed the bat, but Latham went on to double his then score of 43, eventually out for 86 when Roach got a full ball that was angled into him to straighten and cannon into the stumps via an inside edge.At the start, West Indies’ seamers couldn’t find the right length, and allowed Latham and Williamson to gauge the pitch better with several balls they didn’t have to get their bats near to. Holder’s natural back of length was such that balls from there would carry over the stumps. Roach mixed some testing deliveries with a whole bunch that were too far outside off to threaten the stumps, while Gabriel offered scoring opportunities in between his on-target deliveries. After the first session, the bowlers attacked the stumps a lot more, but by then, New Zealand’s second-wicket pair were well set. The only moment of cheer for the rest of the day arrived via Latham’s wicket. And it was not so much cheer as solemnity, with Roach – recently bereaved due to the death of his father – sinking on one knee and staring at the pitch when he broke through Latham’s defences.

Ipswich enquire about £10m+ deal to sign 25 y/o who "has something special"

After securing promotion to the Premier League last season, Ipswich Town are ready to spend like the big boys and make significant improvements to Kieran McKenna's squad.

The Tractor Boys mean business this summer

Whilst their best bit of business going into the summer was to persuade McKenna to stay at Portman Road, Ipswich have stormed into the transfer window and secured a number of big signings.

The winger spent last season on loan with Ipswich, contributing 11 goals and 6 assists in 50 appearances for the East Anglian outfit. With the 20-year-old now at the club permanently, there is every expectation that Hutchinson will go on to play a vital part in Ipswich's campaign next season.

Whilst the eye-catching fees that Ipswich have spent on permanent deals will grab the headlines, the free transfer of Ben Johnson should not be overlooked. In a team that has played very little Premier League football in their careers, signing a player with 69 topflight appearances under his belt at just 24 years of age will be a massive asset to McKenna's side.

West Ham's Ben Johnson

With the Tractor Boys' summer spending spree showing little signs of slowing down, it appears that the club are set to race fellow Premier League sides for the signature of a European talent.

Ipswich eye move for AC Milan midfielder

As reported by Independent Ipswich Town website TWTD, the Italian press are claiming that Ipswich have joined Leicester City and Nottingham Forest in showing interest in AC Milan’s Alexis Saelemaekers. The outlet states that the Tractors Boys have made enquiries about the Belgian midfielder/winger, who is said to be surplus to requirements at San Siro this summer.

Whilst Ipswich's interest does not go beyond this initial contact, Leicester have gone one further and submitted a bid for Saelemaekers. Whilst the value of the Foxes' offer is not yet known, it is said to be close to AC Milan's asking price which reportedly stands in the region of €12-15 million (£10-£12.6 million).

Whilst Saelemaekers has struggled to make a name for himself during his time with the Rossoneri, the 25-year-old spent last season on loan with Bologna where he played a key role in their campaign. Speaking on the player's performances, former Bologna coach Thiago Motta remarked how Saelemaekers "has something special".

Playing primarily as a left winger, the Belgian also boasts the passing range and physical profile that allows him to seamlessly transition into playing as a central midfielder. This versatility would be a key asset to a manager like McKenna who expects his players to be adaptable and cover multiple areas of the pitch.

Covid-19 outbreak: Sri Lanka consider cancelling tour of South Africa

CSA is working to reassure Sri Lanka Cricket that its bio-bubble arrangements are secure

Cricket South Africa (CSA) is working to reassure Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) that its bio-bubble arrangements are secure, as SLC reconsider the forthcoming tour to South Africa over Covid-19 concerns. As things stand, SLC is considering withdrawing from the tour, or offering to host South Africa at home instead of going to South Africa.SLC’s concerns over the tour’s safety were sparked by England’s withdrawal from their tour of South Africa. It is largely the Sri Lanka board, however, rather than the players, for whom CSA’s Covid-19 protocols are a worry. Essentially, SLC cannot afford for players to come back unwell, because Sri Lanka are due to play England in a Test in Galle ten days after their scheduled return from South Africa. The England Test series, which was already postponed once, is vital to the health of SLC’s finances following a tough 2020. SLC is unwilling to risk that home series for the South Africa tour.Sri Lanka’s medical team were in touch with South Africa’s medical officers on Tuesday, in order to ascertain whether the bio-bubble arrangements in South Africa were sufficient. Sri Lanka’s team physician Dr Daminda Attanayake said that SLC’s medical staff were insisting on stricter protocols than CSA had initially planned. Medical officers from both teams spoke on Tuesday.”I have to bring the [Sri Lankan] players back from South Africa without a single positive case,” Dr Attanayake said. “We’ve requested [South Africa’s] protocols be identical to the bio-bubble protocols we have been using for the LPL (Lanka Premier League). We’ve been successful with those. Players have tested positive but they’ve been isolated. We’re requesting these protocols be followed not just by our team, but theirs as well.”In addition, Dr Attanayake said, SLC’s medical staff will ask that even the cleaning staff in the hotels the teams are staying at be placed in the bubble, so that the virus cannot be brought in from outside. In any case, even before England’s withdrawal, SLC had asked for tougher health protocols than the ECB had.SLC’s medical staff will also speak to the ECB’s medical staff on Wednesday afternoon, in order to gain a clearer picture on the nature of CSA’s protocols. SLC’s medical officers will make their recommendations on the South Africa tour to the SLC following that meeting. The board has largely been led by medical opinion during the pandemic, and have been among the more reticent in the world to resume international cricket. If Dr Attanayake and her colleagues are satisfied that CSA’s arrangements are sufficient, the tour is likely to go ahead as scheduled. On Tuesday, CSA’s acting CEO Kugandrie Govender had confirmed the boards were in touch over health arrangements: “I’ve spoken to the SLC CEO today as planned. We are obviously providing them with information to give all their stakeholders, including their health authorities, the reassurances they need,” she said.South Africa are due to host Australia and Pakistan later in the summer, and cannot themselves afford for England’s withdrawal to spiral into a string of cancellations.
