Shohei Ohtani's return to the mound isn't coming anytime soon.

Ohtani is now not expected to start pitching in games again until after the MLB All-Star break, which will take place from July 14–17. According to Bob Nightengale of , the Los Angeles Dodgers plan to keep Ohtani from pitching until after the break, avoiding rushing him back as he is already putting up MVP-level production as a hitter.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said in April that Ohtani has looked "great" in bullpen session, but was a couple months away from pitching in a game again. Now, it appears he still is over a couple months away, and will at the earliest pitch in the second half of July.

Ohtani has not pitched since he was with the Los Angeles Angles in 2023, when he went 10–5 with a 3.14 ERA and 167 strikeouts across 23 starts and won the American League MVP award. Ohtani suffered a torn UCL toward the end of the 2023 season, and underwent surgery on his throwing arm.

As a hitter, Ohtani has slashed .308/.410/.641 with 12 home runs, 21 RBIs and 10 stolen bases so far this season. While only playing as the Dodgers' designated hitter for all of last season, Ohtani hit .310 with 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases as he helped the Dodgers win the World Series.

Safe to say, the Dodgers aren't planning on rushing Ohtani to the mound anytime soon. Though the Dodgers are currently missing Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow due to injury, they have increased depth in the rotation thanks to the addition of Roki Sasaki and the return of Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin, who both missed the entire 2024 season due to injury. Clayton Kershaw also appears primed to return shortly after making another rehab start on Sunday.

Arsenal’s worst performance of the Mikel Arteta era to date? Quite possibly.

This season has been a brilliant one for the Gunners so far but as Wolves came to town, the team at the bottom of the Premier League table, Arteta’s side didn’t look up to the task.

They struggled to create much of note, relying on two own goals to win 2-1. Their defence was also well below-par. Since Gabriel Magalhaes got injured, they have not been the same side.

Fortunately, though, Arsenal found a hero in the form of Bukayo Saka.

The winger put the team on his back, swinging in the corner that led to Sam Johnstone’s own goal. Then, with the clock running down and Wolves looking like they’d rescued a point, Saka popped up again.

This time it was from open play. He got the ball on the right, put in an inch-perfect delivery, and it was headed into his own net by Yerson Mosquera.

So what went wrong?

Why Arsenal struggled to beat Wolves

As poor as Arsenal were at the Emirates on Sunday, you have to credit Wolves.

The Old Gold have been dire this term but they headed to the capital and played with a renewed sense of organisation, a new sense of grit and fight.

The fact that they scored what they thought was a goal to win them a point said it all. Out of nowhere, Tolu Arokadare headed the ball home with only injury time remaining.

This was a battle for Arsenal and that goal proved it. For that strike, their defending was notably poor. Arteta acknowledged that.

Speaking at full-time, he said that his team showed “horrible defensive habits” before the Wolves goal, suggesting that it was “unacceptable”. Quite.

That said, they were also abject in the final third. Arsenal created just two big chances, only forced the goalkeeper into one save and had two shots on target.

Against a side who have amassed two points all season, to quote Arteta, that is unacceptable.

What didn’t help, once again, was the performance of a certain Viktor Gyokeres. The Swede scored 54 times in 2024/25 but has really struggled since coming back to England. He now looks like he’s suffering from a lack of confidence.

The three performances he’s put in since returning from injury have been really worrying. He didn’t have a single shot in his 45-minute cameo a week ago against Aston Villa and then after being given a start against Club Brugge in Europe, left the pitch after the hour mark having managed just four passes. He only had one shot of note, too.

Against Wolves, he was just as bad. He struggled to get on the end of chances and barely saw any of the action, completing just three passes. If Arteta’s side are to win the league, then they need far more from their marquee summer signing.

Arsenal star was as bad as Gyokeres vs Wolves

For Arsenal’s forward line this has been a puzzling season to date. In the early months of the campaign, the team were accused of relying on set-pieces. Yet, over the last month, they’ve not scored a single goal from a set play in the league.

Their open play threat has improved significantly. That was until Wolves came to town.

The attacking threat on this occasion, Saka aside, was virtually non-existent. The fact that Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Martinelli all failed to last 90 minutes said it all.

While Gyokeres will take a lot of the blame for the bluntness in attack, Martinelli must also take some criticism.

Having scored a brilliant goal in midweek, curling the ball in from range, he was back to his usual inconsistencies on Saturday.

What summed up the Brazilian’s performance was his header from one of Declan Rice’s first-half corners. A deep ball to the back post found Martinelli and standing a matter of yards out from the goal, he somehow headed the ball off target.

Truth be told, the winger struggled to get the better of an ageing Matt Doherty on Wolves’ right flank. Martinelli only completed one dribble and succeeded with a dire 67% of his passes.

While the 24-year-old did have four shots, not a single one of them was on target. Not great at all.

In the words of GOAL’s Charles Watts, he was largely “disappointing”. It was a performance way below what we’ve come to expect from him this season.

In the Champions League, the Brazilian has scored in five consecutive games but domestically, he’s leaving a lot to be desired.

Salah smiled and chatted with his teammates on Monday as he attended the club’s first training session since his outburst over the weekend.

Leeds United moved out of the relegation zone in the Premier League this week with an impressive 3-1 win over Chelsea at Elland Road on Wednesday night, in a game that was underpinned by Daniel Farke’s structural changes.

The German head coach, who has typically deployed a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 formation during his time at the club, opted to start with a 3-5-2 system against Enzo Maresca’s team.

It worked wonders for the Whites as they went on to claim all three points, thanks to goals from Jaka Bijol, Ao Tanaka, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Why Leeds United's formation change worked so well

Changing from a 4-3-3 to a 3-5-2 worked so well for the Whites because it allowed Jayden Bogle, who assisted the second goal, and Gabriel Gudmundsson to push higher up the pitch with three centre-backs providing enough cover defensively.

It also meant that the Whites could play with two strikers, instead of leaving one isolated on their own, and that led to Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha causing plenty of problems.

The two centre-forwards combined to win 13 duels against the Chelsea defenders and won four fouls, without committing any, per Sofascore, which shows that they were a nightmare to deal with throughout the game.

Nmecha, in particular, has benefitted from having Calvert-Lewin’s physicality alongside him. The German forward, who has scored four Premier League goals, has lost 69% of his ground duels this season, per Sofascore, which shows that he struggles with the physical side of leading the line on his own.

Having another, more physical, striker alongside him means that he can focus on making runs in behind and pressing opposition defenders, which is what makes it such an effective pairing, or at least what made it so effective against Chelsea.

As you can see in the table above, the teenage forward has scored two goals in three EFL Trophy games, playing against League One and League Two sides, but has struggled with the aerial duels in those games.

This suggests that he would not be well-suited to playing as a lone striker in the Premier League for Leeds, as he would need to duel with towering top-flight centre-backs and hold the ball up under intense pressure, which is also where Nmecha struggled earlier this season.

Therefore, playing alongside Calvert-Lewin, who won six of his nine aerial duels against Chelsea (Sofascore), could be the perfect way for him to be introduced into the first-team this season.

Gray’s return of 14 goals in 20 U21s games and eight goals in 11 U18s matches for Leeds, per Transfermarkt, shows that he has the technical and goalscoring qualities to potentially make an impact for the Whites, but it is the physicality that is questionable.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank has been hard at work this season, trying to instil his philosophy and foster a more stable environment for a club who went through all the emotions last year.

There have been signs of success, but it’s clear much more work is still ahead for an outfit who fancy themselves capable of settling at the top of European football, with the foundation and potential in up-and-coming talents to throw down with any of the continent’s heavyweights with a bit more work.

But Spurs could do with some more firepower right now, especially after selling Heung-min Son to Los Angeles during the summer.

Son’s sale emphasises the regression in terms of world-class forwards in north London over the past several years, and that’s something the club need to fix in 2026.

Tottenham are heading into their first transfer window without Daniel Levy’s influence in a very, very long time. How intense Johan Lange hopes to make this winter window remains to be seen, but with Yves Bissouma ostracised and set to be sold, midfield is a priority.

More dynamism is needed in the centre of the park, but Spurs could do with some more creativity and sharpness in attack. Who, then, might be at the top of the Christmas shopping list?

Well, according to TEAMtalk, the Lilywhites still have a vested interest in Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo, and they are ready to break their wage structure in order to bring the 25-year-old over to N17.

Semenyo, a Ghana international, also has admirers in Liverpool and Manchester City, so this is going to be a tough one to pull off, with the versatile forward’s £65m release clause presenting itself in January.

Why Spurs must sign Antoine Semenyo

Semenyo is a potent goal threat, but his prolificness in the final third is built atop an unrelenting, tenacious work-rate that differentiates him from other wingers.

Justin Kluviert, Semenyo’s Cherries teammate, hailed his dance partner for his “world-class” quality, reaching such a level because of his hard work and consistency on the field.

With six goals and three assists to his name, the £75k-per-week Semenyo is already riding the crest of a wave, but given his likeness to Bryan Mbeumo, who excelled under Frank’s wing last season, he could reach a staggering new level by moving to Tottenham and assuming the role of attacking talisman.

Tottenham did try to convince Mbeumo to follow his old manager to north London this summer, but the Cameroonian’s heart was set on Old Trafford, where he is now shaping into something of a talisman for Manchester United.

However, if Spurs were to add Semenyo to their ranks, Frank would craft a new version of Semenyo who could reach levels that the 26-year-old Red Devil has never reached.

It’s clear that Mbeumo has failed to match Semenyo this season, and given the similarities between the two wingers, Frank could fashion the latter into his new talisman.

Semenyo is arguably performing at a higher level now than Mbeumo was last year for Brentford, where he posted 20 goals in the Premier League and dominated down the right wing. Certainly, he is outstripping the Red Devils iteration.

If Tottenham truly mean business this season, they need to make a statement and add some bona fide quality to their frontline. Semenyo would do the trick, dovetailing into Frank’s set-up.

O projeto foi recebido bem na Câmara, o que contribuiu para a agilidade do processo. Na primeira votação o projeto foi aprovado em unanimidade. Na audiência na Barra da Tijuca, os moradores da Barreira falaram sobre a importância da reforme e deram o sinal verde para a modernização e integração do entorno.

Um dos principais pontos do ‘Novo São Januário’ é integrar a Barreira do Vasco ao estádio, derrubando os muros que separam a favela e a casa do Cruz-Maltino. A fachada histórica será preservada, mas o entorno será aberta à comunidade.

A partir da aprovação dos próximos dois passos, a diretoria já poderá procurar um comprador para o potencial construtivo no terreno da Barra da Tijuca. Segundo Pedrinho, já existem interessados. Além disso, também já há conversas para vender os naming rights do estádio.

“A gente tem que muita tranquilidade, valorizar o naming rights, por tudo o que representa o estádio de São Januário, um simbolismo histórico, social e esportivo, e a melhor decisão será tomada.”
