Southampton’s poor performance on the final day of the Premier League season cost them around £6m as they dropped to 15th position, which will surely frustrate manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

According to the Daily Mirror, Southampton will be £11m after finishing the season in 15th place following their 3-0 defeat against West Ham at the London Stadium.

Had they won, the Saints would’ve finished 12th above Newcastle United, with Steve Bruce’s once relegation-threatened side finishing the season on 45 points after a strong end to their season, whereas the Saints could only muster 43 points after a shocking second half of the campaign.

The Toon were awarded £17m for finishing 12th, which means that Hasenhuttl’s side missed out on £6m by failing to beat the Hammers on Sunday.

The South Coast side certainly had opportunities to take the lead through Takumi Minamino and Kyle Walker-Peters but failed to take them, before capitulating in the space of a few minutes after Pablo Fornals’ quickfire double.

It has so often been the case this season where Southampton will dominate proceedings but fail to take their chances before being let down by their leaky defence, with Declan Rice’s goal late on an absolute horror show at the back.

Considering the Austrian manager has suggested that Southampton will be in the market for players who will cost less than £10m this summer, the £6m they missed out on the final day could well be the difference between Southampton signing a player and not being able to afford him this summer.

The Saints’ form in the second half of the season was that of a relegation side, and they could’ve found themselves in seriously hot water if it wasn’t for the similarly awful form shown by Fulham, West Brom and Sheffield United, with only Southampton’s impressive start to the campaign saving them from relegation.

Therefore, it is clear that new signings are a must this summer if Southampton want to avoid a relegation battle, and Hasenhuttl will no doubt be fuming that his players arguably cost the club a potential new transfer with a shocking final day display.

A number of Aston Villa supporters hit out at midfielder Marvelous Nakamba on social media for his display against Manchester City on Wednesday.

Villa fell to a 2-1 defeat to Pep Guardiola’s men despite taking the lead in the first minute through John McGinn.

Phil Foden and Rodri netted for the visitors, with John Stones and Matty Cash receiving reds cards at Villa Park.

However, it was Nakamba’s performance that had a number of Villa fans talking online.

The 27-year-old kept his place in Dean Smith’s side for just his seventh Premier League start of the season.

Nakamba made way just after the hour mark for Ross Barkley, though, and, statistically, was Villa’s second-worst starter behind Cash, who of course picked up two quick bookings to make the Villans’ job that much harder.

As per WhoScored, Nakamba ended with a 5.98/10 match rating. He failed to make a tackle or interception all evening and attempted just 18 passes, which was 11 less than his own goalkeeper Emi Martinez.

Ponte Preta e Santos se enfrentam neste sábado, às 21h, em Campinas, pela 34ª rodada do Brasileirão. No entanto, a partida ainda é alvo de discussão entre os dois clubes, CBF, Polícia Militar e até mesmo Ministério Público.

Explica-se: o Guarani, arquirrival da Ponte, disputa a final da Série C diante do Boa Esporte, em Varginha, às 18h45 deste sábado. No entanto, o Bugre liberou um telão no estádio Brinco de Ouro para os torcedores. Por conta do histórico de briga entre torcedores de Guarani e Ponte, a PM e a própria Macaca solicitaram o adiamento do duelo com o Santos. A situação se agravaria em caso de título do Bugre, uma vez que o jogo termina cerca de 15 minutos antes do início do jogo da Ponte com o Peixe. Vale lembrar que a distância do estádio da Ponte para o Guarani é de pouco mais de 1km.

Apegada ao Estatuto do Torcedor, a CBF garantiu às partes não ter tempo hábil para alterar a data e o horário de nenhum dos jogos. Com isso, a PM solicitou ao Ministério Público intervenção em nome da segurança. Em contato com o LANCE!, o tenente-coronel Nelson Coelho confirmou o pedido, mas reconhece que a segurança é possível de ser feita tanto da torcida da Ponte quanto do Guarani.

– Pedido já foi feito há alguns dias ao MP. A CBF manifestou-se de forma contrária ao adiamento de um dos dois jogos. A segurança a gente consegue fazer, mas vamos expor muita gente a riscos. Imagina uma torcida antagônica a outra jogando ao mesmo tempo, sendo que essa torcida (do Guarani) não pode ir para Varginha e vai comemorar o título aqui em Campinas – explicou.

O Santos, por sua vez, chegou a sugerir inclusive a alteração do local de jogo do Moisés Lucarelli para a Arena Barueri, em Barueri, na Grande São Paulo. A medida, entretanto, não agradou a Macaca. Ao L!, o vice-presidente da Ponte, Giovanni Di Marzio, confirmou o pedido de alteração da data à CBF, mas afirmar entender a decisão da entidade de respeitar o Estatuto do Torcedor por conta do curto prazo.

– Óbvio que ficou muito em cima. A CBF alegou que não tinha tempo suficiente para mudar. Eu entendo isso, até porque existe o Estatuto do Torcedor, e prazo do pedido de alteração da PM foi menor que o estipulado. A Ponte estava aguardando decisão, mas vamos para o jogo. Entendemos o lado da CBF, porque realmente é ruim – explicou.

Caso não haja intervenção das autoridades por conta do risco de confronto entre duas torcidas historicamente inimigas, o duelo entre Ponte Preta e Santos será mantido para as 21h deste sábado.

Many Manchester United fans have been left buzzing as Manchester Evening News have delivered the latest on the rumours surrounding a possible takeover, claiming a Saudi-backed takeover will not happen at this moment in time.

As per the news outlet, the possibility of fan ownership has been discussed recently, but the sums involved in buying the Old Trafford faithful does make that option very difficult at this moment in time.

The KSA’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) was rumoured to be eyeing a takeover bid of the Red Devils back in 2019, but there has been no change in that situation and the possibility of a Saudi-backed takeover is not on the table.

Nonetheless, it seems as if several MUFC supporters would rather either a fan ownership or somebody who knows the club and English football to come in and take over from the Glazers following the fiasco of the proposed European Super League (ESL).

A number of Liverpool fans have been reacting negatively to training ground footage which emerged over the weekend.

The Reds are in the middle of a 20-day break without a game, having won 1-0 away to Wolves last Monday night.

With Jurgen Klopp’s men no longer in the FA Cup, and with an international break to come next week, they won’t play again until the meeting with Arsenal. The date and time for that match hasn’t yet been confirmed, but it appears likely to be Saturday April 3rd, due to their Champions League clash with Real Madrid the following Tuesday.

Liverpool have been working hard on the training ground despite their lack of action, looking to find some freshness and confidence after a hugely disappointing campaign.

On Saturday, training footage emerged of a number of players competing in a football tennis game, with the likes of Andy Robertson, Thiago and Mohamed Salah involved, among others.

While the video is both highly entertaining and impressive, some fans believe it is bordering on reckless, highlighting the risk of injury through playing it amid the backdrop of a campaign which has seen the Reds lose a number of key players to long-term setbacks.

وتلاقى المنتخبان في إطار منافسات الجولة الثانية من دور مجموعات كأس أمم إفريقيا، حيث خسر حامل اللقب بهدف دون رد. هدف فوز غينيا الاستوائية أمام الجزائر

وقالت صحيفة “ماركا” الإسبانية في تقرير لها: “شهدت كأس أمم إفريقيا 2021 العديد من المفاجآت، لكن لدينا بالفعل أول قنبلة كبيرة، الهزيمة 0-1 أمام غينيا الاستوائية تترك الجزائر محرز، بنسبيني، فيجولي، بن ناصر، في مهب الريح”.

وأضافت: “فرص البطل الحالي، الذي لم يستطع التغلب على سيراليون في المشاركة الأولى وتعادلا سلبيًا، محدودة، ليس من السهل الوصول إلى دور الـ16، لم يتبق سوى مباراة واحدة”.

Amid all the plaudits that have been heading Raphinha’s way recently, the spotlight has somewhat faded away from Leeds striker Patrick Bamford.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have enjoyed an impressive season in the Premier League thus far, and their summer signing Raphinha has certainly lit up Elland Road with some moments of magic, whether that be a spectacular free-kick or a jaw-dropping piece of skill.

However, while the Brazilian may be the man in the headlines, it’s arguably Bamford who’s been Bielsa’s key man.

Speaking just last month, Match of the Day pundit and former Arsenal striker Ian Wright waxed lyrical about the striker, and even gave credit to the club’s fanbase for the role they’ve had in Bamford’s successes.

He said: “You look at what Bamford has been through, six loan moves, his upbringing, private school stuff, Palace fans complaining about the way he runs – he has been through so much. People told him he would never be a Premier League striker.

“But Leeds fans deserve credit for sticking by him, even when you looked at some of those games and he did miss some easy chances. The manager stuck with him, and it will be difficult to find a manager with as much faith in Bielsa.”

As Wright says, Bamford has faced a lot of criticism over the years, including from some of his teams’ own supporters, so for him to make the step-up to Premier League level and look like he belongs is a real credit to him and his work ethic, and most importantly his mental strength.

Whether he’s been playing with a chip on his shoulder is only something he can say, but it’s fair to suggest that he’s well and truly silenced a lot of the doubters.

In 26 games in the Premier League, he’s scored 13 goals, while he’s also picked up five assists – stats which rank him first in both categories for Leeds.

With 12  games to go in the competition, you wouldn’t put it past him to go on another hot streak and finish the campaign by breaking the 20-goal barrier, and that really would put him in historic company – only five players in the Premier League era have scored more than 20 goals in a league season for a newly-promoted side.

So while Raphinha may be the man of the moment, the £35k-a-week earning Bamford has arguably been Bielsa’s biggest success story and hero this season in the Premier League.

ووضح رومينيجه وجهة نظره في تصريحات لقناة “بيلد” الألمانية، وقال: “أعتقد أنه لم يكن انتقالًا جيدًا لميسي أن ينضم إلى باريس سان جيرمان، في رأيي وهذا دائمًا ما أقوله إنه على اللاعبين الأساطير البقاء في أنديتهم حتى اعتزالهم النهائي وميسي واحد من هؤلاء بالفعل”.

وتابع: “أعتبره لاعبًا كبيرًا ولكنه ترك شيئًا ما خلفه في الصيف الماضي بعد رحيله عن برشلونة رغم أن الفريق لم يعد قادرًا على امتلاك لاعب مثله ولكن ميسي ينتمي إلى كرة القدم الإسبانية”.

وأضاف: “مثلما هو الحال أيضًا مع كريستيانو رونالدو، لقد خسر الدوري الإسباني اثنين من أفضل اللاعبين الذين سيطرا على كرة القدم في السنوات الماضية”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “لقد فقد الدوري الإسباني سحره برحيلهما عن ريال مدريد وبرشلونة خاصة ميسي حتى ولو كان لم يعد بنفس المستوى المعهود عنه ولكنه يظل لاعبًا كبيرًا وكان يقدم مستويات رائعة في المواسم الماضية”.
