The hosts clinched the ODI series 2-1 after three players got injured in the last three overs of the first innings in Chattogram. Tanzid, who was approved as Soumya Sarkar’s concussions substitute, struck a career-best 84 before Rishad went berserk, slamming four sixes and five fours in an unbeaten 18-ball 48.Rishad came to the crease with Bangladesh needing 58 runs to win in 13.5 overs. He opened his account with a first-ball six off Wanindu Hasranga, before pasting him for a four and another six in the same over. He slammed two more sixes, off Hasaranga, in the 40th over that cost Sri Lanka 24 runs. In all, Rishad took 40 runs off Hasaranga, from just 11 deliveries.Sri Lanka couldn’t muster up a big total in the deciding game but youngster Janith Liyanage’s maiden ODI century got them past the 200-run mark. Mustafizur Rahman cramped up in the 48th over before Soumya injured his neck and knee in a boundary line crash on the advertisement boards. In the last over, substitute fielder Jaker Ali collided with Anamul Haque, who completed the catch. Anamul lofted a drive to cover after making 12. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto fell in Kumara’s next over, edging behind after just making one run.Tanzid batted serenely meanwhile, hitting six of his nine fours through cover and mid-off. He dealt well with the fast short ball too, hitting two boundaries slightly fine of the square-leg fielder, and two more through midwicket. Soon after reaching his second ODI fifty, Tanzid survived a run-out chance in the 17th over when a throw from mid-off struck the stumps but the bails didn’t fall with Tanzid well short of the crease. He added 49 runs for the third wicket with Towhid Hridoy, to steady the Bangladesh chase.Kumara removed Hridoy and Mahmudullah in his third spell, to get his first four-wicket haul in ODIs. Hasaranga got into wickets in the 26th over when Tanzid mistimed one to long-off. It was a reckless dismissal as Bangladesh were 130 for five.Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz had to shut down shop, adding 48 runs for the sixth wicket. Mehidy made 25 before holing out in the deep midwicket boundary, leaving the stage for Rishad to do his thing.Earlier, Liyanage saved Sri Lanka from getting bowled out for a low score. Coming to bat when they were 77 for four, he batted steadily while the rest of the batters around him crumbled. He struck a couple of lovely cover drives and got two fours through midwicket gracefully. He was also cool with fours through short third, especially when he leant back to a Taskin Ahmed bouncer to guide it past Mushfiqur. He struck eleven fours and two sixes, one over long-on and the other swivelled off Shoriful Islam over fine-leg.Taskin had opened up the Sri Lanka innings with the wickets of openers Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando. While the latter was caught behind clearly, Nissanka strangely didn’t take a review when he was given lbw. Replays showed that the ball would have headed down the leg-stump.Fernando was caught behind the wicket for the third game in a row, before Mustafizur Rahman removed Sadeera Samarawickrama for 14. Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis carelessly edged legspinner Rishad Hossain after reaching 29.Liyanage added 43 runs for the fifth wicket with Charith Asalanka, before Sri Lanka lost their way, slipping to 154 for seven in the 35th over. Liyanage however didn’t allow the innings to slide down, instead adding 60 runs for the eighth wicket with Maheesh Theekshana.The pair batted out thirteen overs before Theekshana holed out in the square-leg boundary after Soumya replaced the injured Mustafizur to finish the 48th over.Pramod Madushan’s catch caused a collision between Anamul and substitute Jaker. In between these two injuries, Soumya hurt his neck and knee in a boundary-line collision with the advertisement board. Bangladesh however overcame the panic of all these injuries and the six wickets, with the big win.

Vítor Pereira não acha justo que a sua história no Timão termine em 2022, independentemente qual seja o resultado na final da Copa do Brasil. Ele levou aos familiares que não se vê aposentando ou tirando algum período sabático agora, quer seguir trabalhando e nesse momento o projeto que enxerga mais seguro para a sua carreira é o corintiano.

Focado na permanência de Vítor no Corinthians, a direção do clube alvinegro nunca foi atrás de outro treinador. Quando os sinais apontavam para a saída de VP, e o sentimento internamente era de pessimismo, a cúpula da equipe alvinegra até chegou a monitorar perfis e colocar nomes de técnicos à mesa, mas nunca foi atrás desses profissionais. Tite, da Seleção Brasileira, e Juan Pablo Vojvoda, do Fortaleza, eram os favoritos internamente, mas nunca foram procurados oficialmente. O argentino Jorge Sampaoli, atualmente no Sevilla, da Espanha, chegou a ser oferecido, mas não agradou as pessoas à frente do Timão.

O contrato de Vítor Pereira com o Corinthians terminará em dezembro deste ano. Caso se confirme a renovação, a tendência é que ela seja por mais uma temporada.

Isak speculation rumbles on

Alexander Isak’s heroics at Wembley won’t be forgotten in a hurry, with the Swedish striker playing a major role in ending Newcastle’s 70-year trophy drought, but speculation about his future continues to rumble on as we edge closer to the summer transfer window.

Arsenal are set to make an “important” proposal to sign the forward, as revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, and there have been suggestions the 25-year-old has now expressed a desire to move to the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season.

With the former Real Sociedad man contracted until 2028, there is little reason to sanction a departure this summer, unless a transfer request is handed in, but that does not seem particularly likely given that he has stated how much he loves the club and city.

However, Eddie Howe must plan for the worst-case scenario, and a report from Italy has now revealed that Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic could be brought in to replace Isak this summer, having now decided it is best if he parts ways with the Italian club.

Vlahovic’s wage demands are too high for the Serie A side, and with the forward unwilling to accept a lower salary, it appears as though he could be heading for the exit door, having also had tension with manager Thiago Motta.

A move to the Premier League could be on the cards for the Serbian, with a fee of around €40m – €45m (£33m – £38m) touted, and Newcastle are ones to watch in the transfer race, although Manchester United and Arsenal are also in the picture.

Vlahovic likely to be downgrade on Isak

The 25-year-old is enjoying a decent season in front of goal in Italy, netting 14 goals in all competitions, however, Newcastle’s talisman is outscoring him by some distance, having bagged 19 goals in the Premier League alone.

As such, while Serie A writer Siavoush Fallahi has lauded the former Fiorentina man as “world-class” in the past, he is likely to be a downgrade on Isak, much like almost any striker being linked with a move to St. James’ Park.

The Newcastle star underlined his importance to the team with his magnificent performance at Wembley last time out, scoring the second in the 2-1 victory, and Howe will be hoping he is eager to compete for more trophies at St. James’ Park.

With Callum Wilson’s contract set to expire this summer, Howe may need to bring in a new reinforcement at striker, but unless Vlahovic is willing to play second fiddle to Isak, a move for the Juventus striker isn’t in Newcastle’s best interests.

  With Argentina still trailing, Scaloni surprisingly took off Messi in the 78th minute, a decision that sent alarm bells ringing among Argentine fans. However, just a couple of minutes after the substitution, Thiago Almada produced a precise finish into the bottom corner and ensured Scaloni’s side remained undefeated in their qualification campaign.

  "Leo wasn't going to come off, but he ended up coming off near the end," he said. "He (Messi) told me it was better for him to come off, and so we decided to change him. • WHAT HAPPENED?

  Lille defender Meunier has quipped that if United wanted him, he would not hesitate to move to the Premier League giants. However, the former Borussia Dortmund ace wouldn't want his "love" for the Red Devils to turn into hate, so perhaps staying at the French team is for the best.

  WHAT MEUNIER SAID

  “If they ever ask me, I’ll cycle there. (laughs),” he told Gazet van Antwerpen, via Sport Witness. “But maybe it’s better this way. Suppose I play there and have a bad time. I wouldn’t want to hate Manchester United, because I love that club so much. I went to watch them a few weeks ago, against Bilbao. In with the fans, singing, à fond (fully). Je suis un vrai. (I am a real one). I go to watch them at least once every season. But of all the home games I’ve seen in all those years, they’ve only won two. You have to have a self cruelty side to be a United supporter, right?”

  The Belgium international has had a distinguished career, playing for Dortmund, Lille, Paris Saint-Germain, and more. The 33-year-old has been to a World Cup, a European Championship, and won trophies in France, Belgium, and Germany. But it seems a move to United is very, very unlikely – and he admits as such.
